We test drove a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! this weekend, which all of Oppo apparently hates. Anyway, my friend is putting his current car up for sale and is now deciding between a previous gen Ford Edge, a Subaru XV Crosstrek, and the 2012 Murano.
By the way, if anyone wants a 2008 Chevrolet Impala LTZ with 116,000 miles, he has one for sale. He bikes, kayaks, hikes, etc., so he’s one person who will actually use an SUV for sport and utility. The Impala will probably come with this nice bike rack, too:

Did he try a last gen CX-9?

I'm going to suggest that, but he lives in a condensed part of Louisville, Kentucky and it may be too large for street parking and such.

I really don’t hate the Murano that much. It’s a little, droopy, but it’s soft, comfortable, and French. Even if it’s a Nissan. Out of those three though, I’d go with the Subie because I like it more.
Basically, Murano if you want something comfy, Subie if you want something good in the snow, and Edge if you want something that will bore you to death.

He needs to try a Subaru Forester, the XV is tinny. I would rather get the Murano with the V6 and huge trunk.

Try a MINI countryman, you may find you like it.

I’d say Ford then Subaru and based on my hatred for our Nissan Quest fuck that shit

I vote for the XV.

I’d go for the Murano. Reliable and comfy. However, I’d suggest anything Toyota. 4Runners are built in Japan to ridiculously high standards. They may not be the best on gas, but they’ll be very reliable. Maybe a 4th gen 4Runner?

He loves those but Toyota resale puts all but the highest mileage examples out of his price range.

I’d take the Edge over the Murano. The Nissan CVT is problematic but the Edge just feels like an old person’s car Inside.
Subaru will be much smaller than he’s used to but it could be nice.
Also that Chevy has the weirdest combination of soft ride and hard seats that I've ever driven. I'd still rock it though.

I’d consider a forester over an XV
XV is rather small and terribly underpowered for what it is. It does look great though.

A crosstrek is lifted impreza hatch as someone else said it’s not large. The Forrester is much closer to the other ones he is looking at. The last gen cx9 also shares the edge drive train so he might as well consider it as well.

Crosstrek is the most miserable drive ever. Just try to maintain highway speeds esp hills. Your right foot will ache from trying to press the accellerator through the floor just to keep with traffic. The CVT will scream and whine and you will drink gas like a Tahoe. Hell on wheels and not in a good way. Dont get me started on the horrible seats...

agree - crosstrek is nice, but not as much room in back. Go look at a Forester.

I like the Subaru, but it’ll depend on their needs really?

Murano if you want something comfy that will bore you to death

Of those I’d take the Edge. The other two saddle you with a CVT, and the Edge is on a very reliable platform that was shared with the Fusion and the Mazda 6.

Oh how I so agree. I sold mine after 20k miles because I was desperate to be out of it. It got to the point where I hated driving... and I love driving!
